Privacy & Security

Privacy Policy

Your rafter measurements stay on your device. This page explains what little data we do collect, how cookies and analytics work, and the steps we take to keep things secure.

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Rafter Calculator Pro (โ€œweโ€, โ€œusโ€, or โ€œourโ€) collects, uses, and safeguards information when you visit our website and use our rafter calculator tools.

The short version: the pitch, span, overhang, and rafter sizes you type into the calculator are processed in your browser and are not sent to or stored on our servers. We only collect basic analytics and whatโ€™s needed to keep the site running.

Information We Collect

Log Data

When you visit our site, our servers and analytics provider may automatically record information your browser sends. This may include:

  • Your IP address (used for rough location, not to identify you)
  • Browser type, version, and screen size
  • The pages you visit and how long you stay
  • The referring page or search term that brought you here
  • Approximate region (country/state level)

Messages You Send Us

If you email support or submit feedback, we receive whatever you choose to include in that message โ€” for example, the calculation inputs you describe and your email address so we can reply.

Your Rafter Inputs

The values you enter into the rafter calculator โ€” roof pitch, span, run, overhang, rafter depth and thickness, wall thickness, and ridge thickness โ€” are processed locally in your browser. The math runs on your device, not on our servers.

We do not transmit, store, or read your project measurements. If you close the tab, that input is gone unless your browser saved it locally for convenience (see Cookies & Storage).

Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to:

  • Remember your unit preference (imperial feet/inches or metric)
  • Remember your last-used rafter inputs so you donโ€™t retype them
  • Measure aggregate traffic and page performance through analytics
  • Serve relevant ads if ad partners are enabled

You can clear these at any time from your browser settings, and the calculator will keep working with its default imperial (ft/in) settings.

Third-Party Services

We may use third-party companies for analytics and to serve advertisements. These companies may use cookies and web beacons to collect non-personal information such as:

  • Click and scroll behavior on our pages
  • Browser type and version
  • Time and date of visits
  • Which ads were shown and whether they were clicked

This information is used to improve the site and show ads that may interest you. To learn more about behavioral advertising or to opt out, visit Network Advertising Initiative .

Data Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we hold against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Because your rafter measurements are processed in your browser and never uploaded, there is no server-side database of your project data to breach. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we keep what we do collect to a minimum.

Your Choices

  • Clear your saved unit preference and inputs any time via your browserโ€™s site-data settings.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser; the calculator still works with defaults.
  • Opt out of interest-based ads through the Network Advertising Initiative link above.
  • Request that any personal information you sent us by email be deleted from our inbox.

If you live in a region with data-protection rights (such as GDPR or CCPA), you may contact us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you.

Childrenโ€™s Privacy

Our Service is a professional carpentry tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.

Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated โ€œLast updatedโ€ date.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of our Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
